Musings on Romans 5:9-11

Romans 5:9-11
Much more surely then, now that we have been justified by his blood, we will be saved through him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. But more than that, we even boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Why do we choose to tear ourselves from reality all the time? I don’t know about you but I’m impressed by my ability to screw things up.

The substance of the universe is grace, our natural space truth. Trying to cross this boundary of truth is to fundamentally tear at the fabric of the universe and attempt to inhabit a space that doesn’t exist. The human condition is a weird state of affairs and this need to test the limits of the truth is a fundamental human problem.

Romans teaches us that people who force themselves to live in this space beyond truth are in violent opposition to the substance of grace and that God is equally in violent opposition to such ignorant masochism. Luckily for us this means the cross.

God is the persons of grace and his mercies are forever, amen!
